Parador La Seu D'Urgell
This Parador Seu D'Urgell rises up next to the Romanesque cathedral of La Seu d'Urgell, in a monumental setting that is open to nature in one of the most breathtaking areas of the Catalan Pyrenees. This is a perfect area for hikers and lovers of mountains. The world-famous Parc Olimpic del Segre Canoeing Championships are held on the river Segre here during the summer.
The Seu D'urgell Parador appears modern from the outside, but it has been built over and around a 14th century convent. It has a unique sky-lit lounge (pictured below) that must be experienced to be really appreciated. It has seventy-nine rooms, indoor pool, sauna, solarium, café and air conditioning in all guest rooms.
A short jaunt up into duty-free Andorra makes an interesting side trip.
